News Topical, Digital Desk : One issue that's being discussed frequently is the sale of shares by insiders. According to Nuvama data, so far this year, i.e., in 2025, insiders (who they are and what they do, information will be found below in the news) have sold shares worth ₹25,500 crore, while purchases have been made for only ₹3,860 crore. This means that selling has been quite high. Top purchases have been seen in JSPL, Indus Tower, Jindal Stainless, and TFCI. Meanwhile, major promoters have reduced their stakes in Bajaj Finserv, Authum Inv, JB Chem, Apollo Hospitals, and ZFCV through block deals. Many of these stocks have also given good returns to investors.
Insider activity, i.e. what did they do in the year 2025 - Nuvama's report shows that insider selling has dominated the market so far this year.
Total purchases: ₹3,860 crores
Total sales: ₹25,500 crores
This clearly shows that promoters and people associated with the management have been net sellers.
Top bought stocks
JSPL (₹997 crores) – This steel company has given a YTD return of 11%. Indus Tower (₹708 crores) – The stock is up only 3%. Jindal Stainless (₹352 crores) – The stock has gained 9%. TFCI (₹161 crores) – The stock of this finance company shone the most, with a YTD return of +120%. It is clear that wherever insider buying was seen, most of the stocks have given positive returns.
Where the maximum selling has happened - Promoters reduced stake through block deals. Bajaj Finserv (₹5,502 crore sale) - Stock is up +30% in YTD. Authum Inv (₹2,473 crore sale) - Stock has given a great return of +69%. JB Chemicals (₹1,628 crore sale) - Stock has fallen by -10% here. Apollo Hospitals (₹1,479 crore sale) - Stock is up +6%. ZFCV (₹792 crore sale) - Return for the year 2025 was +12%.
It is worth noting that many stocks have given good returns despite selling by promoters, especially Bajaj Finserv and Authum Inv. While TFCI has seen the biggest rally (+120%), investors in companies with promoter block deals have also seen positive returns. JB Chem is the only large stock where both selling and 2025 performance were negative. This data indicates that promoter selling does not always put pressure on share prices, especially when the sector or company has a strong growth outlook.
