News Topical, Digital Desk : Navratri Kanya Pujan Bhog 2025: During Sharadiya Navratri, on the eighth and ninth day, there is a tradition of worshipping girls, also known as Kanjaks. These young girls are considered incarnations of Goddess Durga and are worshipped and fed. It is believed in the scriptures that the nine-day fast is incomplete without Kanya Pujan. So, let's find out what should be considered during Kanya Pujan in this article.

What should be included in the Kanya Pujan plate?

  • Halwa - This is the main part of the prasad. Prepare semolina pudding in pure ghee and offer it to the Goddess and then feed it to the girls.
  • Puri – Include simple, fresh, and fluffy puris in your meal. Some regions also have a tradition of making sweet puris.
  • Black gram – Black gram prasad is considered essential for Kanya Bhoj. It should be cooked without onion or garlic.
  • Kheer - Some devotees prepare rice kheer along with or in place of halwa. This is also one of the Mother Goddess's favorite dishes.
  • Fresh fruits and sweets – After the meal, give banana, apple or other seasonal fruits and sweets to the girls.

Do not include these things in the food even by mistake

The food offered for Kanya Pujan should be completely sattvic, meaning it should not contain even the slightest trace of tamasic substances. Therefore, avoid including onions and garlic, meat, eggs, stale food, store-bought items, or sour foods in the offerings. It is believed that this may anger the Mother Goddess.

This is how to bid farewell to the girls

Never let girls leave your home empty-handed. Before bidding them farewell, touch their feet and seek their blessings. Then, meditate on Goddess Durga and, while meditating on her, respectfully bid the girls farewell. Be sure to clean the house immediately after bidding them farewell.
