Actually, before the start of Navratri (Shardiya Navratri 2025), there are some things which should be removed from the house immediately, otherwise it will have a negative impact on life.

Tamasic food

Only Satvik food should be consumed during the 9 days of Navratri. Therefore, all the Tamasik things like garlic, onion, non-vegetarian food and alcohol should be removed from the house before the fast begins.

Broken idols

If you have a broken idol of any deity in your house, then throw it out of the house before Navratri. Keeping broken idols in the house is considered inauspicious. These should be immersed in a holy river or kept under a Peepal tree.

old and broken things

Broken utensils, old and torn clothes, and things that are not in use should be removed before Navratri. These things cause negative energy. Therefore, cleaning the house during Navratri is an important part of welcoming Maa Durga.

Leather items should not be used during Navratri. Leather is made from animal skins, and is considered impure. Therefore, keep leather shoes, belts, bags and other items away from the place of worship and kitchen.
