News Topical, Digital Desk : Shanti Priya has returned to the big screen after more than three decades and she is considering this comeback as nothing less than being born again. Shanti Priya, who was last seen in 'Ikke Pe Ikka' with Akshay Kumar, has made a comeback with Bad Girl. This Tamil film has been produced by Vetrimaaran and directed by Varsha Bharat. Anjali Sivaraman is also in an important role in this film.
Shantipriya said this on her comeback
Talking about the project, Shanti Priya said that she felt like she had returned home. She told Hindustan Times, “I felt like I was reborn. It was amazing and that too on the silver screen, coming back to the place where my journey started, it felt like I was coming back to my mother's house.”
I said yes as soon as I heard the story of the film
Interestingly, Shanti agreed to do the project after the casting director who first offered her the project called her up. A few minutes later, she spoke to Varsha on the phone. “She narrated the story and it was amazing. The way she was narrating the story, she was visualising the whole story with full confidence. She knew what she wanted. She was like a professional artist. I was completely immersed in the character,” Shanti said.
The climax made me emotional
She said that her eyes welled up with tears as soon as she heard the climax and she immediately agreed to do the film. Working with new talent was nothing new for Shanti Priya. She remembered how 35 years ago she was also new to the industry but she too was given a chance. With the same belief, she was happy to support Varsha.
Shanti said, 'They didn't even audition me'. Another interesting thing is that Varsha herself did not know Shanti's initial South identity as Nishant. The actress said, 'Varsha knew Shanti Priya from Instagram. Later she told me that when she showed a picture of mine to her mother, her mother said, ‘What are you saying? Shanti Priya? This is Nishant. My generation knows her as Nishant.’
Bad Girl stars Shanthi Priya as Sundari, the mother of Anjali's character Ramya. The film is produced and presented by Vetrimaaran under his Grass Root Film Company banner along with Anurag Kashyap.
