Let us tell you that the women, angry at the Forest Department for not catching the leopard that had killed a woman who had gone to cut grass, held the DFO and other officials hostage. The officials had come to the village to take stock of the situation, and after much coaxing, the women released the officials after about an hour.

Women accused the forest department of negligence.
During this time, women created a ruckus accusing the forest department of negligence. The women were demanding that the leopard be declared a man-eater and shot. The officials assured the villagers that action would be taken. The matter calmed down after the assurance of the officials.

Cage installed to catch the leopard
Let us tell you that Rupa Devi (59) of Danda Chamsari Tok of Gram Sabha Barsir in Jakholi development block had gone to the field to collect grass on Friday. During this, she died in a leopard attack. The forest department installed 20 trap cameras and four cages in the area, but the leopard has not been caught yet.

There have been reports of attacks by wild animals in different districts of Uttarakhand earlier as well. Even before this, wild animals have made many people their prey. However, the forest department keeps issuing advisories from time to time to curb these incidents. Even after this, such incidents keep coming to the fore, which is a matter of great concern.
