News Topical, Digital Desk : A major tragedy occurred during the immersion of the idol of Goddess Mata on the last day of Navratri in Bharatpur district, Rajasthan. Two teenage girls drowned in a pond near Purani Chawani village and tragically died on the spot. The entire village was plunged into mourning upon hearing the news.

According to reports, in Purani Chawani village, located near Dholpur district, the immersion ceremony for the idol of Goddess Mata was held at the end of Navratri puja. The pond was located among the hills near the village. Five to six children had gone into the pond to immerse the idols. During the immersion, two teenage girls drowned. The nearby children immediately alerted the village.

Villagers rushed to the scene and, after much effort, pulled the two girls from the water, but by then it was too late.

Identification of deceased teenagers

Police have identified the two girls as 19-year-old Tanu, daughter of Saheb Singh Jat, and 16-year-old Khushi, daughter of Ranu Jat. The families of the deceased are in deep shock following the accident. The entire village is in mourning, and the joy of the Mata Visarjan has suddenly turned to grief.

Dholpur Sadar Police Station Officer Mahesh Meena said that a police team arrived at the scene immediately after receiving the information. Villagers pulled the two girls out of the pond, but they had already died on the spot. Both bodies have been kept in the hospital mortuary.

Mourning among the people in the village

The tragedy swept the entire village in mourning. The joy and excitement of the Mata Visarjan ceremony was replaced by grief. The relatives of the deceased are inconsolable, weeping inconsolably.

Villagers are also trying to console the families. Locals are demanding more stringent security measures around the pond to prevent future accidents.
