Trains are witnessing the largest passenger traffic during this time. The number of passengers on trains bound for Bihar is particularly astonishing.
Meanwhile, the railway administration claims to be providing passengers with essential amenities, including additional trains. Trains passing through Varanasi railway station are also experiencing heavy passenger traffic. ABP News spoke with station director Arpit Gupta about facilities and security concerns.
25 special trains passing through Varanasi railway station
Varanasi Railway Station Director Arpit Gupta told ABP Live that Indian Railways' priority is to ensure that all passengers complete their journey safely during the Chhath festival. Keeping this in mind, additional trains are being run. Currently, 25 special trains from various parts of the country are passing through Varanasi Railway Station for Bihar. These trains will provide passengers with the convenience of traveling from Varanasi to Bihar.
125 CCTV cameras are being monitored.
He said that approximately 125 CCTV cameras have been installed at various locations at the Varanasi railway station. A shelter has been built near the station. The railway is fully prepared to provide medical facilities and all basic amenities to passengers. In addition, measures ranging from baggage scanning to crowd control are being monitored via large screens.
Railways ready for every responsibility
As the Chhath festival approaches, it is anticipated that trains may become even more crowded. Keeping this in mind, railway officials have conducted inspections around the station and on trains. Trains from Mumbai and other major cities across the country are departing for Bihar via Varanasi. It remains to be seen how prepared the railways are to handle the influx of passengers.
