News Topical, Digital Desk : An illegal kidney transplant racket has been uncovered at a private hospital in the Rawatpur police station area. Following a complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested six people, including the hospital operator and a broker, and filed a case. Meanwhile, the CMO's team raided a dozen private hospitals late last night and conducted investigations.
The case is from Ahuja Hospital in Keshavpuram, where a female patient was admitted the previous day. She had kidney failure. She met a broker named Shivam Agarwal from Awas Vikas 3. He promised to arrange a kidney donor. Shivam then met Ayush, an MBA student from Meerut.
Ayush explained that he was willing to donate his kidney for four lakh rupees. Shivam then arranged for the kidney transplant at Ahuja Hospital. Ayush was then admitted to MedLife Hospital, located near the Ambedkarpuram Community Center in Kalyanpur, while the woman receiving the kidney was admitted to Priya Hospital and Trauma Center.
Ayush alleges that he was promised four lakh rupees, but never received the money. The matter reached the police, prompting an investigation. After gathering evidence, the Crime Branch of DCP West SM Qasim Abidi arrested two of Ahuja's doctors, Shivam Agarwal, and three other accused.
Late that night, Ayush and the woman who received the kidney were admitted to LLR Hospital from a private hospital. Ravarpur Police Station in-charge Kamlesh Rai said they have filed a case against six accused. All of them have been arrested.
