Devendra Yadav News: Congress has targeted BJP over the accident that took place in Shakti Vihar, Mustafabad, Delhi. A four-storey building suddenly collapsed here. 11 people lost their lives in this tragic accident, including 4 children. 11 people have been injured, who are being treated at GTB Hospital. The building was in an unauthorized colony and relatives say that this accident happened due to the removal of a pillar during renovation on the ground floor.

However, the police have not yet been able to confirm the exact cause. The NDRF, Delhi Police and the Fire Service took part in the rescue operation that lasted for 12 hours. CCTV footage clearly shows the dust rising after the accident, which tells the horror of it.

Congress leader Devendra Yadav's attack on BJP-AAP

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devendra Yadav expressed deep grief over this accident and directly blamed BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He said, “This accident is not an accident, but the result of corruption and negligence. BJP ruled the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for 15 years and AAP for the last 3 years, but both encouraged unauthorized construction instead of stopping it. Municipal councilors and officials become 'lantern mafia' and extort money from every house.

Devendra Yadav made a demand to the government

There should be a high level judicial investigation of the accident.
Strict action should be taken against the guilty officials.
The families of the deceased should be given Rs 10 lakh compensation each and the injured Rs 2 lakh compensation should be given immediately.
Major changes should be made in the building rules of Delhi so that people can get their maps passed easily.

Why is unauthorized construction such a big issue?

Devendra Yadav said that more than 70% of Delhi's population lives in villages, unauthorized colonies and rehabilitation colonies, where building maps are not approved. The surprising thing is that even in the colonies approved in 1977, maps are not being approved till date. He said, "Delhi's population is increasing every day. If the building rules are not eased, then unauthorized construction is not going to stop. Officials demand huge bribes, due to which people build houses without maps.

Delhi is in seismic zone-4, where an earthquake of 7-8 magnitude can occur. Yadav warned, “Delhi has become hollow due to unauthorized construction. If a big earthquake occurs, Delhi will become a heap of rubble.

Political war between BJP and AAP

This incident has heated up the politics of Delhi. BJP accused AAP of promoting unauthorized construction in Muslim-dominated areas for vote bank. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said, "In the last 10 years, AAP MLAs and councilors gave free hand to 5-6 storey buildings in areas like Mustafabad." At the same time, Labor Minister Kapil Mishra accused AAP of "vote bank politics".

On behalf of AAP, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed grief and appealed to the workers to help in the rescue work. But AAP hit back at BJP saying that unauthorised construction continued to flourish even during the long rule of BJP in MCD. Both the parties are blaming each other for corruption and negligence.

Attitude of the government and MCD

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered an inquiry into the accident and said that the culprits will not be spared. MCD has said that it will start a survey of unauthorized and unsafe buildings. But Yadav called it insufficient and said, “Every year MCD makes a list of dangerous buildings, but nothing happens. In January 2025, a 5-storey building collapsed in Burari, even then 5 people died. Still no lessons were learnt.
