News Topical, Digital Desk : The political temperature in the Rajasthan Assembly is currently high regarding the issue of the cow. The issue is no longer confined to the House, but has reached the streets. Both the BJP and the Congress are trading accusations and counter-accusations. The issue is whether or not the cow should be granted the status of state mother.
During Question Hour on Tuesday (February 17), BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya raised the demand for granting the cow the status of State Mother. He asked the government what steps were being taken in this direction.
On this, Cabinet Minister for Animal Husbandry, Zoraram Kumawat, stated clearly that the government is not currently considering such a decision. He stated that numerous laws already exist for cow protection and that there is no need to grant separate state mother status.
The government's response to this heated debate in the House. The Congress party seized on the issue and began attacking the BJP.
Opposition attacks, BJP on the back foot
Congress MLAs present in the House said that the BJP plays politics in the name of cows, but backs down when it comes to granting them official status. A cow slaughter incident in Jaipur was also mentioned, which further intensified the debate.
BJP MLA Gopal Sharma became so angry over the issue that he began to side with the opposition. Although he later publicly apologized, the incident further heated up the atmosphere.
The party will hit the streets – Congress
Senior Congress leader and former minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas stated clearly that the BJP only seeks votes in the name of the cow. He said that if the BJP truly revered the cow, it should have no problem granting it the status of state mother.
He announced that Congress would launch a major movement on this issue and, if necessary, take to the streets to protest. Congress stated that this was not just a question of religious faith, but of political integrity.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Affairs Jawahar Singh Bedam said that everyone views the cow with reverence and the government has taken several steps to protect it. He said that the Congress party is unnecessarily politicizing this issue.
Balmukund Acharya also stated that the government has not backed down from their demands and that considerable work has been done in the state for cow welfare. The issue of the mother cow has now become a major topic in Rajasthan politics.
The BJP is being accused of being on the back foot, while the Congress is preparing to turn this into a major movement. It will be interesting to see in the coming days whether the government adopts a new stance on this demand or whether the political conflict intensifies.
