The fast of Papankusha Ekadashi is observed on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. As its name itself suggests that 'pap' means sin and 'ankush' means to stop, this Ekadashi destroys all sins and gives virtuous results. Along with worshipping Lord Vishnu and fasting on this day, there is also a tradition of lighting lamps (Papankusha Ekadashi 2025 Deepak Rituals) at some special places . It is believed that by doing so, Lord Narayana becomes happy and showers his infinite blessings.
Main Gate
Lighting a lamp at the main entrance of the house on Papankusha Ekadashi is considered very auspicious. This lamp brings positive energy into the home. Furthermore, with the blessings of Lord Vishnu, negative energies are dispelled from the home.
basil plant
Tulsi is considered the beloved of Lord Vishnu. It is said that lighting a lamp filled with cow ghee near the Tulsi plant on Ekadashi brings eternal benefits. This practice also brings happiness and prosperity to the home.
Temple
On the day of Papankusha Ekadashi, a lamp should be lit in the home's prayer area or in the temple. This lamp symbolizes immense faith and devotion towards Lord Vishnu. It is said that keeping this lamp lit throughout the night fulfills all wishes by the grace of Lord Vishnu.
Ficus tree
According to scriptures, the Peepal tree is believed to be the abode of Lord Vishnu. If there is a Peepal tree near your home, light a lamp beneath it on the evening of Ekadashi. This ritual removes all obstacles in life and provides relief from financial troubles.
kitchen
The kitchen is considered the abode of Goddess Annapurna. Lighting a lamp in the kitchen on Ekadashi ensures that there is never a shortage of food and wealth in the home, and prosperity prevails.
