News Topical, Digital Desk : Dhanush, Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna's film Kuberaa has been in the headlines for a long time. But meanwhile a big controversy related to the movie is coming to the fore. Producer Sunil Narang has revealed that Amazon Prime Video has threatened him due to delay in release. This film is going to be released in five languages and its budget is said to be Rs 120 crore. Let's know the whole story of this controversy.

What is the whole controversy?

Kubera producer Sunil Narang told Galte in an interview that Amazon Prime Video has taken a tough stand on the release date of the film. The film was earlier scheduled to release in April 2025, but due to delays in post-production, it was postponed to June 20, 2025.

Sunil said that he asked Prime Video for a few weeks' time, but in response he got a threat of a deduction of Rs 10 crore. Sunil said, “OTT platforms have taken over everything. Everything happens according to their wishes.”

The growing dominance of OTT

Sunil Narang said that Telugu films usually come on OTT 28 days after their release in theaters, sometimes it is extended to 30 days. But OTT platforms are now playing a big role in deciding the release date. He said, "The film industry is over in some cases.

There is dependence on Qube Cinema for projection, BookMyShow for ticketing and OTT platforms for post-theatrical earnings." Sunil also said that the talk of reducing the fees of stars is wrong, because in India's population of 145 crore, there are only 50 superstars, who are like 'God'.

Kubera: A pan-India film

Kubera is a pan-India social thriller, shot in Tamil and Telugu and will also release in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam. The story of the film revolves around a poor man (Dhanush) living in Dharavi slum in Mumbai, who becomes a mafia leader through hard work and ambition. Dhanush's character in the film is 'Deva', who runs after money and power. Nagarjuna is in a complex character, while Rashmika Mandanna will also be seen in an important role. Actors like Jim Sarbh and Dilip Tahil are also part of the film.

The film is directed by Shekhar Kammula, who is known for his different stories. Sunil Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao have produced it under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Cinemas and Amigos Creations. The digital rights of Kubera have been bought by Amazon Prime Video, which is the biggest non-theatrical deal of Dhanush's career. The teaser and poster of the film have been well received by the audience.
