News Topical, Digital Desk : Amidst preparations for the Chardham Yatra, important news has emerged for pilgrims. This year, the offline registration process for the pilgrimage will begin in Rishikesh on April 17th. To make the journey smooth and organized, the administration has further strengthened the registration system.
According to Premanand, the passenger registration in-charge at the Chardham Yatra Transit Camp, 12 counters each will be set up at two different locations within the transit camp. Pilgrim registration will be conducted in two shifts at these counters, ensuring maximum timely access to pilgrims. Additionally, registration will be arranged through six counters at the ISBT Rishikesh campus.
The administration has also made additional arrangements for the convenience of travelers. Approximately 30 employees equipped with handheld devices and mobile technology will be deployed to various locations to conduct on-the-spot registrations. Four counters will also be set up at the Laxmanjhula Road Gurudwara complex to manage crowds and expedite the process.
To improve the registration system, lessons have been learned from previous years' experiences. In 2025, the main registration office had eight counters, increasing the number to 12. However, inadequate queues for passengers led to chaos. This time, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council has addressed this problem by designating separate lines in front of all 12 counters.
Chardham Yatra Administration Executive Officer P.P. Nautiyal stated that an organized line with angled angles has been created outside each counter, which will relieve pilgrims of the hassle of long queues. He added that this time an effort has been made to make the entire system more streamlined and traveler-friendly. The administration hopes that the new arrangements will make the registration process for the Chardham Yatra more smooth and convenient than before, enhancing the pilgrims' experience.
