New Delhi: There is anger across the country over the case of the heinous crime committed against the trainee doctor in Kolkata. Doctors went on a nationwide strike on Tuesday. Work in the OPD of many hospitals including Delhi AIIMS remained disrupted. AIIMS and FAIMA have announced to continue the strike on Wednesday.

Doctors from Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) and other resident doctors associations said that their agitation will continue till a central law is implemented to stop attacks on medical personnel. CBI investigation has been started in this case.

Authorities at Assam's Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) have been advised to ask female doctors and other staff to avoid moving around alone at night. The order has been criticised.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy has said that he is also going to join the doctors' strike. As per Sukhendu's announcement, he will join the striking doctors' strike today (Wednesday). Sukhendu said, 'I am going to join the protesters. Because I too have a daughter and a little granddaughter like millions of Bengali families. We should rise to this occasion. Enough of cruelty against women.'

I don't trust the CBI investigation: Sukhendu Shekhar Roy

The TMC MP further said, 'Whatever happens, let us all protest against this incident. RG Kar was raped and brutally murdered in the hospital. Who are those people? Now the CBI will investigate. Anyway. I have no faith in the CBI. They are fools. Still the truth has to come out. Why are efforts being made to save the beasts? Whoever is responsible for this crime should be hanged. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP has made a big announcement.

Special forensic team will investigate  

Members of the CBI team from Delhi arrived at the CGO Complex in Kolkata, West Bengal. Following the order of the Calcutta High Court, the CBI has taken over the case and sent a special medical and forensic team from Delhi.

CBI is investigating  

Following the order of the Calcutta High Court, the investigation of the rape and murder of a doctor of RG Kar Medical College Hospital was handed over to the CBI. Shortly after the order was issued on Tuesday, officials of the central investigation agency reached Tala police station. The investigation report of the related cases and the CCTV footage collected from the police have been ordered to be handed over to the CBI.
