Mumbai: CID may investigate the death of the accused in the Thane district's Badlapur sexual harassment case in a police encounter. Thane police has written a letter to the CID requesting them to investigate the case. Sexual harassment accused Akshay Shinde was killed in an encounter in a police van on Monday evening.

Police say that on the way, Akshay Shinde snatched the pistol of a police constable accompanying him and fired at a policeman. Akshay was badly injured by the bullet fired by the police team in self-defense. He was taken to Kalwa Civic Hospital in an injured condition, where he was declared dead.

CID to investigate the encounter

In this encounter, a police constable Nilesh More was also shot in the thigh. He is undergoing treatment. After this incident, Akshay Shinde and opposition parties are raising many questions on the police encounter. Only after this, Thane Police has decided to get this encounter investigated by the CID.

Mother raised questions on the encounter

Akshay Shinde was accused of sexually assaulting two girls aged three and four years in a school in Badlapur. His mother has questioned the police statement and said that he cannot snatch the police's weapon. He was even afraid of bursting crackers during Diwali. The police have killed our child.

Opposition parties also surrounded the government

After Akshay's death, opposition parties have also started cornering the government. Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Vijay Wadettiwar has written on his x account that shooting Akshay Shinde is an attempt to destroy evidence. How did Akshay Shinde shoot the police? Weren't his hands tied in police custody?

No action taken against school operators

Wadettiwar further wrote that in the Badlapur case, on one hand, no action is taken against the school institution's operators even though they are associated with the BJP. On the other hand, the accused Akshay Shinde being killed in a police encounter is a suspicious incident. There should be a judicial inquiry into this case.

NCP MP Supriya Sule has said that the government's attitude towards the sexual assault of two young girls in Badlapur is shocking. The workers were seen waving posters of 'Eknath-Eknyay' in their hands.
