CM Vijay’s TVK Joins INDIA Bloc, Declares Mega Protests Against CEC

The political landscape of Tamil Nadu witnessed a major realignment on Saturday as the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, officially joined the opposition INDIA alliance. The formal induction took place during a high-stakes strategy conclave convened at "Satyamurthi Bhavan," the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee headquarters in Chennai. TVK established its coalition footprint by deputing two key representatives to the meeting: General Secretary for Election Management and Minister Adhar Arjun, alongside Finance Minister Mary Wilson. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Manickam Tagore hailed the entry as a historic turning point, noting that Vijay’s political presence significantly bolsters the opposition's combined grassroots strength across southern constituencies.

Front Against Election Commission: Allegations Over Deletion of 13 Crore Voter Names

The unified alliance immediately trained its political artillery on the Election Commission of India (ECI), directing sharp criticism toward Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Conclave leaders alleged that the poll body operated arbitrarily and outside constitutional guardrails during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, leading to the wrongful deletion of more than 13 crore eligible voters from national electoral rolls. Characterizing the exercise as a systemic disenfranchisement of marginalized communities and genuine voters, the alliance resolved to mount statewide decentralized agitations across every administrative district in Tamil Nadu.

Mega Demonstration Scheduled in Chennai on October 15 Demanding CEC Ouster

The escalating standoff will culminate in a massive joint protest in Chennai on October 15, where coalition leaders will officially demand the removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The October 15 demonstration will feature a broad united front comprising TVK, Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPM], Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), and CPI(ML). The protest aims to project strong political solidarity while calling for independent judicial scrutiny into electoral list administration.

Beyond Tamil Nadu: TVK to Expand Footprint into National Alliance Gatherings

Addressing reporters following the Satyamurthi Bhavan conclave, veteran MDMK general secretary Vaiko clarified that Saturday’s joint appearance marked merely the opening chapter of long-term collaborative politics. Confirming that TVK will actively participate in future national-level conventions and strategy conclaves of the INDIA bloc, Vaiko emphasized that the consolidation of regional parties behind Vijay’s leadership provides substantial momentum to the collective opposition across the country.
