CM Yogi Opens 50th India Carpet Expo, Gifts ₹1,340 Cr Development to Bhadohi

Taking Uttar Pradesh's indigenous craft to the international stage, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the landmark 50th Golden Jubilee edition of the India Carpet Expo in Bhadohi. Recognized as Asia's premier international handmade carpet trade fair, the mega event serves as a central global meeting ground for overseas buyers, domestic exporters, weavers, and manufacturing entrepreneurs. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister underscored that while Bhadohi's traditional weavers once had to struggle in isolation without institutional backing prior to 2017, the double-engine administration has transformed the region by integrating heritage craft with modern infrastructure, cutting-edge export logistics, and worldwide market access.

Uttar Pradesh Becomes India's 5th Largest Exporter as Outbound Trade Crosses ₹2 Lakh Crore

Reflecting on the economic turnaround of the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared key trade milestones on social media platform X, pointing out that Uttar Pradesh's overall export volume has expanded by approximately 2.27 times over the past decade to breach the ₹2 lakh crore benchmark. This consistent momentum has secured UP's standing as the fifth largest exporting state in the country. The handcrafted carpet cluster of Bhadohi and surrounding districts plays an indispensable role in generating foreign exchange earnings, establishing the state's artisanal talent as a recognized standard in premier luxury home decor markets across North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

Direct Dialogue with Weavers and Exporters: Preserving Artisanal Heritage

During his visit to the expo, CM Yogi interacted directly with leading carpet manufacturers, artisanal guilds, export delegates, and young entrepreneurs to assess trade needs and logistical bottlenecks. Emphasizing the guiding mantra of the transformed Uttar Pradesh—respect for the artisan’s craft, business expansion for enterprise, employment generation for youth, and overall prosperity for the region—the Chief Minister highlighted that government interventions such as the One District One Product (ODOP) framework have revived traditional weaving ecosystems while protecting generational craftsmanship from industrial obsolescence.

Mega Infrastructure Push: ₹1,340 Crore Allocated Across 112 Projects for Bhadohi, Aurai, and Gyanpur

Marking the historic expo milestone, the Chief Minister handed over a major civic and infrastructural package to the district, launching 112 dedicated development schemes valued at over ₹1,340 crore. The capital works span three core legislative assembly segments—Bhadohi, Aurai, and Gyanpur—covering critical upgrades in regional road connectivity, public healthcare, municipal drainage, reliable electricity distribution, and civic amenities. In addition, the Chief Minister distributed financial aid and scheme welfare certificates directly to local beneficiaries, ensuring the grassroots community powering Bhadohi’s handloom industry benefits directly from Uttar Pradesh's rapid economic growth.
