CM Yogi Inaugurates Bhadohi Carpet Expo as 430 Global Buyers Arrive

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the prestigious 50th Golden Jubilee edition of the International Carpet Fair (India Carpet Expo) in Bhadohi on Sunday at 1:45 PM. Sharing an address on social media platform X, the Chief Minister affirmed that his administration is committed to creating new pathways of development, market access, and commercial opportunities for Bhadohi’s skilled weavers. Underscoring the region's contribution to state economic growth, he pointed out that Uttar Pradesh's overall export volume has expanded by 2.27 times over the past decade to surpass ₹2 lakh crore, positioning the state as the fifth largest exporter in India, with Bhadohi's handcrafted rugs serving as a principal foreign exchange engine.

Rescheduled from Delhi: Massive Turnout Across 65 Nations and BRICS Delegations

The four-day international expo marks a significant turnaround after earlier logistical challenges. The mega event was originally slated to take place in New Delhi in March 2026, but global market turbulence prompted organizers to reschedule and relocate the gathering to Bhadohi, where extensive infrastructure was set up to host the worldwide handloom community. This edition features unprecedented international participation: 430 overseas importers representing 65 countries have formally registered to source collections, including a key delegation of 106 verified buyers from BRICS nations. Inside the Bhadohi Expo Mart, 223 domestic manufacturers and master exporters have installed pavilions showcasing both ultra-luxury handcrafted heirloom weaves and affordable floor coverings designed for mass international retail.

Heritage Meets Modern Growth: Direct Dialogue with Artisans and Exporters

Throughout the expo, the Chief Minister held interactive sessions with carpet manufacturers, export council representatives, and grassroots weavers. CM Yogi reiterated that the core mission of the state's industrial policy is to honor the skilled hands of generational artisans, expand enterprise capacity, generate direct youth employment, and build long-term regional prosperity. The ongoing initiative aims to preserve Bhadohi’s hand-knotted legacy while connecting rural weaving hubs directly to international luxury home decor supply chains, bypassing intermediary commissions and empowering artisan families.

Big Infrastructure Gift: 112 Development Schemes Launched for Bhadohi, Aurai, and Gyanpur

Commemorating the Golden Jubilee exhibition, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 112 comprehensive development projects valued at over ₹1,340 crore across the legislative assembly constituencies of Bhadohi, Aurai, and Gyanpur. The sanctioned public works address critical regional priorities, including upgraded arterial road networks, advanced industrial drainage, reliable power supply, and enhanced civic amenities for handloom clusters. Alongside civic works, the Chief Minister personally distributed welfare benefits and financial scheme sanction letters to local beneficiaries, cementing a balanced approach that combines grassroots social support with large-scale economic development.
