News Topical, Digital Desk : Sharadiya Navratri is set to begin on Monday (September 22). In view of this, the Maihar district administration has issued an order banning the sale of meat, fish, and eggs. Action will be taken against those who disobey this order. The order states that this decision has been taken to maintain religious sanctity and respect the faith of devotees.

In fact, on this special occasion of Sharadiya Navratri, temples dedicated to Goddess Durga are thronged by devotees. Meanwhile, in Maihar district of Madhya Pradesh, the district administration has issued an order prohibiting the sale of meat, fish, and eggs, keeping in mind the sentiments of devotees during the Sharadiya Navratri festival.

There will be no sale of eggs, meat and fish

SDM Divya Patel issued the order, stating that the ban was imposed to maintain religious sanctity and respect the faith of devotees during Navratri. Meat, fish, and eggs will not be sold anywhere in the city during this period.

The decision was taken keeping in mind the sentiments of the devotees.

The order states, "Using the powers conferred under Section 163 of the BNSS 2023, a complete ban has been imposed on the purchase and sale of meat, fish and eggs in the entire Maihar Municipality from September 22, 2025 to midnight of October 1, 2025." 

Do not hurt faith 

During Navratri, most people observe a fast and worship Goddess Sharada. According to Sanatan Dharma, only sattvic food is consumed during these days. Even seeing non-vegetarian food during the fast is considered inauspicious. The administration has made this decision to ensure that the faith and belief of the devotees is not hurt in any way.

Action will be taken for violation 

According to SDM Patel, millions of devotees from all over the country visit Maihar. In view of the Navratri fair, the sale of meat, fish, and eggs will be prohibited in the entire municipal area under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023, from September 22, 2025, to midnight of October 2, 2025. Violation of this order will be punishable under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code.
