News Topical, Digital Desk : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday said it would have been better if the Uttar Pradesh Governor's speech had deviated from tradition and been realistic and a little enthusiastic in the larger public interest, including the development of the state and the upliftment of the entire society.

Mayawati wrote on 'X', "The budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly began today with the parliamentary tradition of the Governor addressing the joint session of the legislature. However, it would have been better if his speech had deviated from the tradition and been genuine and a little enthusiastic in the larger public interest, including the development of the state and the upliftment of the entire society."

He said, "In fact, millions of people across Uttar Pradesh are suffering from the government's flawed policies and actions. They are facing numerous difficult family difficulties due to poverty and unemployment. But most of all, they are worried about their lives, property, and religion. The Governor should have drawn the government's attention to this issue, so that the people of the state, as well as the opposition, could have received some reassurance. This failure resulted in the opposition shouting slogans and creating a ruckus during the Governor's address."

The BSP said that the absence of details of the BJP government's grand claims, assurances, announcements, and promises related to public interest and welfare in the Governor's address is a matter of concern for the people, and it would be appropriate to incorporate them in the upcoming budget speech. Addressing a joint sitting of both houses of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature on the first day of the budget session, Governor Anandiben Patel highlighted the achievements of the Yogi Adityanath government. Members of the main opposition Samajwadi Party protested inside and outside the Assembly on various issues.
