In Hinduism, the Ashtami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) of each month is celebrated as Masik Durgashtami. This day is dedicated to Mother Durga, the Mother of the Universe. It is believed that devotees who worship the Mother Goddess with complete devotion on this day are freed from fear, disease, and poverty. Auspicious time (Masik Durgashtami 2026 Shubh Muhurat)
- Abhijit Muhurta - 12:12 PM to 12:57 PM
- Amrit Kaal - from 12:51 pm to 02:22 pm.
Monthly Durgashtami Puja Vidhi (Masik Durgashtami 2026 Puja Vidhi)
- First of all take bath and wear red clothes.
- After this, take water in your hand and take a pledge to fast and worship.
- Spread a red cloth on a platform and install the idol of Maa Durga.
- If there is a temple in the house, purify it by sprinkling Ganga water.
- Offer red flowers, red sandalwood, Akshat and vermillion to the mother.
- Make sure to offer red chunari and makeup items to Maa Durga.
- Offer fruits, sweets and home-made halwa-puri to your mother.
- Light a lamp and incense and recite Durga Chalisa.
- If you have time, then definitely recite some chapters of Durga Saptashati.
- Finally, perform Aarti of Mother with devotion using a ghee lamp.
