News Topical, Digital Desk : Amidst much fanfare, suspended MLA Humayun Kabir of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Bengal laid the foundation stone of the Babri Masjid at Beldanga in the Muslim-majority Murshidabad district, bordering Bangladesh, at around 1:30 pm on Saturday.
The foundation stone of the mosque was laid amid a large Muslim crowd that had gathered at the venue since morning. A stampede-like situation briefly broke out at the ceremony. Islamic religious leaders from India and abroad also attended the event. Members of the Muslim community arrived from various parts of the district early in the morning, carrying bricks.
The administration deployed a large number of police forces.
Kabir claimed that more than 300,000 people attended the grand ceremony, held on 25 bighas of land in the Moradighi area of Beldanga district, to mark the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Babri Masjid. The administration deployed a large police force to maintain law and order in the area.
The foundation stone of Ram temple was also laid in Baharampur.
Meanwhile, in response to the Babri Masjid incident, a stone laying ceremony for the construction of a Ram temple was also held on Saturday by a BJP leader in Baharampur, Murshidabad district. BJP leader Shakharabh Sarkar organized the stone laying ceremony at the Purvasha Club grounds in the Manindra Nagar area of Baharampur.

Meanwhile, MLA Humayun Kabir, speaking from the stage, once again declared that the Babri Masjid will be built in Murshidabad. No force can stop it. He also stated that there will be no shortage of funds for the Babri Masjid. Members of the Muslim community from across Bengal and the country will contribute financially.
