News Topical, Digital Desk : On Tuesday morning, in Sarvodaya Colony on Taki Road in Nalasopara East, a mentally ill man attacked and killed his own sister with a sickle (kyaata), while also seriously injuring her mother who came to intervene. The incident occurred between 5 and 5:30 am.

It is reported that 35-year-old Supriya Kanade lived in the Saidham Welfare Chawl in Sarvodaya Colony. Her mother and brother lived nearby. Supriya's husband had gone to the village, leaving her alone at home. On Tuesday morning, a quarrel broke out between Supriya and her 40-year-old brother, Ajit Malushte. The dispute escalated to the point where Ajit, enraged, attacked Supriya with an axe.

The accused also attacked his mother.

Supriya suffered severe blows to her neck and chest, leaving her bleeding profusely on the ground. When her mother intervened to calm the situation, the accused, Ajit, attacked her as well. Her mother also suffered serious injuries and was immediately admitted to the municipal hospital. Supriya died at the scene.

Locals rushed to the scene as soon as they learned of the incident. Mahendra Kadam, a resident of the area, said that when he arrived at the scene around 5:30 a.m., Supriya was lying in a pool of blood. He added that the accused youth was mentally ill and was undergoing treatment.

A case was registered and further investigation was initiated.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Tulinj police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Police have taken the accused, Ajit Malushte, into custody. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused is mentally ill and is undergoing treatment.

The police have registered a case and begun further investigation. A detailed investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the murder and the mental state of the accused. Police say the mother remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment.
