Bholenath immediately drank that terrible poison to save the world, but did not let it go down his throat. Shiva 's throat turned blue due to the effect of that poison. This is why Lord Shiva is also known as 'Neelkanth'.

After this, peace was established in the whole world again, because Lord Shiva had saved the world from a big crisis. This story of Lord Shiva drinking poison is a symbol of his sacrifice and compassion. The Neelkanth form of Lord Shiva is very unique. It is said that by worshipping this form of him, all the troubles of the devotees come to an end.
