
News Topical, Digital Desk : The lawyers' strike that was going on for six days in Delhi ended on Thursday (August 28). The New Delhi Bar Association received an assurance from Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday (August 28) after which the strike was called off. At the same time, a statement has been issued by the Delhi Police and it has been said that this arrangement will not be implemented until the government takes a final decision on the LG's notification of August 13. The lawyers were on strike against the Delhi LG's notification allowing testimony through video conferencing from Delhi police stations.
A message issued by the New Delhi Bar Association (NDBA) said, "It is to be informed that following the continued strong agitation against the August 13 notification issued by the Lieutenant Governor, a meeting was held with the representative of the Union Home Minister on Thursday."

NDBA secretary Tarun Rana said, "A statement was issued by the Delhi Police commissioner clarifying that the notification will be implemented only after hearing all stakeholders."

Tarun Rana, secretary of the New Delhi Bar Association, further said, “In view of the positive response received in writing, the ongoing agitation, the demonstration scheduled on Friday (August 29) in front of the Lieutenant Governor's House and the call for abstaining from work in all district courts of Delhi are being postponed till the final outcome of the discussions and deliberations with Union Home Minister Amit Shah .
Lawyers started strike from 22 August
After the notification issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, the lawyers of the district courts started a strike on 22 August. After this, the work in all the district courts in the national capital came to a complete standstill. During this, the lawyers also burnt the effigy of the Lieutenant Governor and demanded the withdrawal of the notification.
