News Topical, Digital Desk : Every year, the holy festival of Janmashtami (Janmashtami 2025) is celebrated with reverence and gaiety across the country on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. Devotees start preparing for it many days in advance, take a vow to fast, do beautiful decoration of Kanha ji, do bhajan-kirtan and jagran, decorate temples.
The celebration of this day is most special in Mathura and Vrindavan, because this is the holy land where Shri Krishna spent his childhood and performed countless leelas. This is the reason why Janmashtami is sometimes celebrated here on a different day than the rest of the country. In Shri Banke Bihari temple of Vrindavan, a special Mangala Aarti is organized on this day, which is performed only on this day in the whole year.
When will Janmashtami be celebrated in Vrindavan? (Krishna Janmashtami 2025 date)
This time the main celebration of Janmashtami in Vrindavan will be on 16th August, Saturday (Vrindavan Janmashtami date). On this day, the temple premises and every corner around it will be decorated with flowers, colorful curtains and garlands of lamps. At exactly 12 o'clock in the night, Thakurji will be anointed with Panchamrit (milk, curd, honey, ghee and Ganga water) in the sanctum sanctorum of Banke Bihari temple. After this, the Lord will be dressed in silk clothes and decorated with sixteen adornments. This entire program takes place in a very traditional and confidential manner, and during this time the darshan of the sanctum sanctorum remains closed for common devotees.

Sri Krishna Janmashtami not only reminds us of the birth of God, but also teaches us the importance of religion, compassion, love and truth in life. This festival of Mathura-Vrindavan makes us realize that in true devotion every moment becomes a celebration. That holy moment of midnight, the flickering light of the lamps, the sweet echo of bhajans and the cheers of the devotees all together create such an atmosphere as if Shri Krishna himself is standing in front of us, smiling and filling us with his love and blessings.
