It is taken out every year on the second day of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month in Puri, Odisha with Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra. This year this religious journey will start on Friday, June 27, in which lakhs of devotees will participate. It is said that participating in it liberates one from sins and attains salvation.

Bring These Things Home During Rath Yatra
- Nirmalya - The special Prasad of Lord Jagannath in Puri, is called Nirmalya. It is a kind of dry rice. This Mahaprasad is prepared inside the Koili Baikunth of the Jagannath temple. It is believed that by bringing it home and consuming it, all sins are washed away, and one attains salvation.
- Small piece of chariot wood - The chariots of Jagannath Rath Yatra are made from neem wood. After the completion of the journey, some parts of the wood of these chariots are given to the devotees. It is said that bringing a small piece of chariot wood home brings positivity in life. Along with this, happiness and peace remains in the house.
- Picture of Lord Jagannath - If you are unable to attend the Rath Yatra, then bring home a small statue or picture of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra and worship them regularly. This will bring the blessings of the Lord. Also, all sorrows will go away.
- Mahaprasad - The Mahaprasad of the Puri temple, known as Anna Brahma. Bringing this Mahaprasad home removes all the sufferings of the devotees.
- Tulsi garland - Lord Jagannath is a form of Lord Vishnu and Tulsi is very dear to him. In such a situation, during the Rath Yatra, definitely bring a Tulsi garland from Puri. This removes negative energy from the house.
