News Topical, Digital Desk : Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has targeted the Yogi government over the traffic problem in the capital, Lucknow. He said that the BJP government is extorting money from the traffic police. They don't want the public to follow traffic rules, so instead of standing at intersections, they hide in front of traffic so that people break the rules and they can collect money.
The SP president posted on X, citing a report that claimed it took up to 50 minutes to travel just 7.5 km in Lucknow. The report also detailed the time and distance, which could take hours elsewhere.
SP president accuses BJP of extortion
Akhilesh Yadav blamed the BJP government for Lucknow's traffic problems. He posted on Twitter, writing, "The BJP government is busy making money in every way possible before leaving. The BJP government, which has been openly extorting money from traffic police, has now devised a new method of looting in the name of AI. For the BJP, AI means 'income.'"
There are many reasons for traffic jams, including
- Road condition
- Road width
- Signal condition
- Blockades
- Change in routes
- Lack of one way
- Divider condition
- Water logging obstruction
- Violation of traffic rules
- Poor working conditions of traffic police
- Lack of basic facilities for traffic police
- Pressure from owners/passengers on drivers
- Vehicle fitness
- Public education-training
- Mental health
- Pressure to reach on time
- Anxiety
- Anger
- Weather -
etc…
The most important factor is the government's willpower. The BJP government, formed to make money, never wants the public to follow traffic rules. That's why traffic police aren't present at intersections, but instead hide behind a corner, waiting for people to break traffic rules, so they can pressure them into issuing challans and collect fines, thus achieving targets set by the "higher-ups."
Now, the practice of transferring extortion money to someone else's account through digital payments has begun, eliminating the fear of being caught in person. As for CCTV footage, its recordings are available only when the government wants to trap someone, otherwise, the matter is dismissed under the pretext of a "technical glitch." The public, fed up with BJP corruption, will cancel the "BJP license" forever this time. Only if the BJP goes will the government move forward.
