The doctor said that  the early symptoms of cancer in children , like all age groups, can be very vague. However, knowing about the early symptoms can help in its early diagnosis and treatment. In such a situation, here are some major symptoms, which are important to pay attention to:-

General characteristics

  • Persistent fever that does not respond to regular medications
  • bruising or bleeding without any obvious cause
  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Weight loss and loss of appetite

Special Features

  • Swelling or lump in the arms/legs or any other part of the body
  • Bone or joint pain (persistent pain in the arms, legs, or joints)
  • Large, hard, or painless lumps in the neck, armpits, or groin
  • Sudden vision loss, blurred vision etc.
  • Frequent headaches accompanied by vomiting

What to keep in mind

  • If you have any of these symptoms, especially if they are persistent or severe:
  • Consult a pediatrician/doctor, or in case of specific symptoms, an organ specialist (such as an orthopedist, for pain or swelling in limbs).
