News Topical, Digital Desk : A very common complaint of people booking Tatkal tickets is that all the tickets get sold out within 1 minute of the booking starting. IRCTC has now taken a big action after this complaint.
IRCTC has blocked about 2.5 crore user IDs which were suspected to be involved in Tatkal booking fraud. Not only this, about 20 lakh IDs have been put under verification. IRCTC was preparing to take action against them for a long time.
Monitoring of 2.9 lakh PNRs
According to a Times of India report, IRCTC was constantly monitoring bookings to curb ticket fraud. 2.9 lakh PNRs booked within 5 minutes of the booking window opening have also been put under scrutiny.
IRCTC has blocked about 6800 disposable email domains which were being used in booking fraud. IRCTC found that fraudsters made tatkal bookings and sold the same tickets to passengers at higher prices.
There is a problem only on some routes
- IRCTC has admitted that the issue of instant sale of Tatkal tickets is seen only in some routes and trains. Officials said that efforts are also being made to run more trains and increase capacity to solve the problem of passengers.
- IRCTC has also made several changes in the system to prevent misuse of its platform. On 22 May 2025, at 10 am, 31,814 tickets were booked in one minute, which is a record of bookings per minute so far.
