News Topical, Digital Desk : Following the explosion near the Red Fort Metro station, the world is focused on India. The Indian government has declared the blast a terrorist attack. Following this, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also explicitly declared the incident a terrorist attack. He has also praised India's professional approach to the investigation.
He said, “The Indians should be commended. They are conducting this investigation very thoughtfully, carefully and professionally. The investigation is ongoing. This was clearly a terrorist attack. It was a car loaded with highly explosive material that exploded and killed many people.”
'America wants to help but...'
He added, "I think they're doing a very thorough investigation, and I think when they have the facts, they'll release them." The US Secretary of State said he spoke with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar about the blast. Rubio said the US has offered assistance, but India is very capable of conducting this investigation on its own and doesn't need help.
"We're waiting for the results of the investigation. We've offered our assistance, but I think they're very capable of these investigations. They don't need our help, and they're doing a great job," Marco Rubio said.
Meeting during the G-7 Foreign Ministers' meeting
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Secretary Rubio met on the sidelines of the G-7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Niagara, Canada. During their discussion, Rubio expressed condolences for the victims of the recent Delhi bombings. The meeting discussed bilateral relations as well as global developments.
Preliminary investigations following the blast have revealed connections to a white-collar terrorist network. Investigating agencies have found links to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH).
