News Topical, Digital Desk : With money in your bank account and a good internet connection, making payments anywhere and anytime using UPI is easy. Nowadays, people use UPI for every payment, big or small. It allows you to transfer money in minutes without any hassle. For user convenience, UPI apps offer a variety of services that we often don't know about. Today, we're going to tell you about one such feature.
We tend to think that making payments using UPI requires having money in your account, but this isn't true. You can transfer money using UPI even if you don't have any money in your bank account. How? Let's find out. This service, offered by UPI apps, is called a credit line. It's similar to a credit card. With a credit line, you can make transactions using UPI by scanning a QR code or entering your UPI PIN, even if you don't have any money in your bank account.
Which banks are providing this service?
Many private banks, such as Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Indian Bank, offer this service. Among public sector banks, Punjab National Bank (PNB) also offers a credit line. This is essentially a type of loan, and therefore, banks charge interest on it. Most banks start charging interest immediately, while some start charging interest at the end of the month.
Know what is the process?
- First of all select your UPI app.
- Now go to the search bar of the app and search for the option of 'Credit Line'.
- You'll then find the option to 'Add Credit Line.' Click on it.
- Now select your bank i.e. the bank in which you have an account.
- After selecting your bank account, you'll need to choose a UPI PIN and verify yourself using your Aadhaar.
- For verification, you'll need to enter your Aadhaar number and the OTP you received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Once verification is complete, you can choose your UPI PIN.
- After setting the PIN, you can make payment by scanning the QR code or entering the PIN.
- While making the payment, you will have to choose the 'Credit Line' option instead of Savings Account and then make the payment by entering the PIN.
- The limit for making payment through credit line is Rs 2000-60000.
