New Delhi : Expensive cars flying in the air and great action along with comedy, this has become the identity of filmmaker Rohit Shetty. Apart from film production, he has also been hosting the stunt reality show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi for the last ten years. In its 14th season, once again, as the host, he is making the participants do stunts.

In the coming days, the third film of his Singham franchise, Singham Again, is also in the pipeline for release. We spoke to Rohit on several topics, including his show, stunts and Singham Again:

1- What changes have taken place in ten years as a host? What is your reaction when participants ask you to work on your films?
 

Answer- In the last ten years, there have been many good changes in the show and in me as a host. Things have upgraded a lot. As far as the artists wanting to work with me asking for work is concerned, this has never happened till now. The participants who come on the show talk about the show. Some artists who have worked in my film have also done this show. It does not happen that everyone comes and talks directly about working with me in a film every time.

2. When did your association with action and stunts begin?

Answer- I have been associated with action and stunts since childhood. My father was a stunt director, so I have been inclined towards it since childhood. (Laughs) This is my family business. It is not that I suddenly thought that I had to do something in stunts and action. I had decided in my childhood itself that I want to become an action director.

3. Did the thought of becoming an action hero or acting ever come to your mind?

Answer- It has been 30 years working in this industry, how can a person think of all that now. Even initially, I never felt like doing action in front of the camera. (Laughs) I don't even get any such offers. In terms of acting, I do these shows and work in advertisements. I am happy with that much.

4. After doing Khatron Ke Khiladi, you did not join any other show as a host or judge, offers must be coming?

Answer- Actually, what happens is that we do this show every year. The other channels and reality show producers know that I do this show. I go to other shows as a guest. So, I don't get offers to host other shows because they know that I host the show Khatron Ke Khiladi. (Laughs) And now other shows like this (with action and stunts) are not even made.

5. Currently, Pan India films are very popular, despite having good popularity, you did not release any film under this label?

Answer- I never thought of it; it never came to my mind. I have done 17 films so far, but it has not come to my mind yet as to what label should I do for them. Should I do it in Pan India or not? To tell you the truth, there is no specific reason for it. I have not thought of anything like this in the future either.

6. There were reports that Singham Again would be released on 15th August, so why was its release date postponed?

Answer- We never officially announced 15th August as the release date of our film. That was made by the media. Our shooting has just finished. It never happens with our films that the release date is delayed or advanced. Our plan was always that after shooting the show Khatron Ke Khiladi, we will shoot the last schedule of our film. Our plan for the release was that when the shooting of all the big stars' parts is completed, we will officially announce its release date. Finally, we announced the release of our film on Diwali.

7. Due to the continuous failure of the films of some big stars including Akshay, questions are being raised on the influence of stardom, how do you see the current situation?

Answer- If we look at the history of Indian cinema, we will find that such times keep coming and going. In such a situation, it would be wrong to say that now stars will not work; only small films will work. This is a cycle of time, a period which keeps coming and going. This period has come, will go, then a new period will come back. As far as Akshay's films are concerned, every artist has a period, he too has a bad period. It will change very soon.
