News Topical, Digital Desk : The Supreme Court will hear on Wednesday the petition of the accused in the Kanhaiya Lal Darji murder case. The petition opposes the release of the film Udaipur Files based on this case.

Listed for hearing on July 16

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Jaymalya Bagchi on Tuesday said that the plea of the filmmakers challenging the Delhi High Court's decision to stay the release of Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Taylor Murder is listed for hearing on July 16.

 

Demand to stop the release of the film till the hearing is completed

This petition was filed in the Supreme Court by Mohammad Javed, who is the eighth accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case. He demanded a ban on the release of the film until the hearing of the case is completed.

Senior advocate Menaka Guruswamy, appearing for the accused, said the matter was related to the right to a fair trial and urged the bench to hear her plea along with those of the filmmakers.

 

The bench told Guruswami that the petitions will be heard on July 16. Together or separately, we cannot say it right now, but we will hear it.
