
News Topical, Digital Desk : The jail administration in Karnal district of Haryana has started a new initiative with the aim of reforming and rehabilitating the prisoners. A petrol pump has been opened by the jail department, which will be run by the prisoners and inmates of the jail. On Sunday (13 July), Haryana's Jail Director General (DG) Mohammad Aqeel inaugurated the petrol pump.
Jail DG Mohammad Aqeel said that this initiative has been started with the aim of improving the lives of prisoners. He said, “Prisoners will get a chance to work, which will improve them. By being busy in work, discipline is maintained in the jail and there are no fights among the prisoners. Along with this, they will also get wages for this work.”
The police officer said, "In the future, along with petrol and diesel, CNG and electric vehicle charging facilities will also be provided at the petrol pump. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has played an important role in this entire project."
Pumps started in many districts
DGP Mohammad Aqeel said that the pump in Kurukshetra is running successfully. Such pumps have also been started in Ambala, Yamunanagar and Hisar. In the coming time, this model will be implemented in Faridabad, Nuh and Sirsa as well. He said that he himself takes full responsibility for the quality of oil at these petrol pumps. He assured that there will be no compromise in the quality of oil here. Customers can fill petrol without worry, their vehicle will run well.
The pump will remain operational 24 hours a day
According to the jail director general, this pump will remain operational 24 hours a day. Additional staff will be deployed at night. The profit from this petrol pump will go directly to the government's account. The DGP also clarified that there is no shortage of funds from the government, whether it is about starting such facilities in new districts or fulfilling the needs of the prisoners. He said that many other works are going on in the jail to improve the lives of the prisoners.
