News Topical, Digital Desk : A tragic incident has shaken the education world in Kodinar, Gir Somnath district, Gujarat. Booth Level Officer (BLO) and teacher Arvindbhai Vadher committed suicide due to the unbearable burden of SIR and election-related work and mental stress.
He hanged himself to death on Friday (November 21st). A suicide note was found near the deceased. In the note, he mentioned SIR and cited it as the reason for his death. He wrote that he was tired of working at SIR.
The suicide of Vadher, a resident of Deoli village in Kodinar and a teacher at the Chara Girls Primary School, has sent shockwaves through the area. Arvindbhai Vadher had been working as a teacher since 2010 and had recently been assigned the role of Booth Level Officer (BLO). In his suicide note, he stated that he was tired of working at the SIR and that the resulting immense mental stress led him to take this extreme step.
What did BLO write in the suicide note?
He wrote a suicide note addressed to his wife. The suicide note found with the teacher clearly states, "I can no longer handle this work at SIR. I am tired of working at SIR. Please take care of yourself and your son. I love you both very much, but now I am helpless."
Serious questions on education system and administration
This incident has raised serious questions about the state's education system. Instead of teaching, teachers are constantly engaged in non-academic work, especially BLO work, which is negatively impacting education. Currently, "children look for teachers, teachers look for voters, and voters look for names on the voter list."
2 teachers died in the last three days
It is noteworthy that this is the second incident in the state in the last three days where a teacher has died due to the workload of the BLO. The deaths of two teachers in three days have increased pressure on the system from the state's teachers' unions and political parties. There is also considerable anger among teachers against the work of the BLO.
