News Topical, Digital Desk : Stage 3 restrictions have been lifted in Delhi-NCR. The CAQM made the decision following improvements in the AQI. Stage 3 restrictions prohibit the entry of heavy vehicles and trucks. With its removal, this ban will also be lifted. Stage 3 is implemented only when air quality is classified as severe.
What are the restrictions of Grape-3?
- Grape-3 restrictions strictly prohibit construction and demolition activities.
- Work is immediately stopped at soil blowing sites.
- Brick kilns, stone crushers and hot mix plants are to be closed immediately.
- Strict action is taken against industrial activities that cause pollution.
- Also, roadside dust control campaign is intensified.
- Restrictions also apply to the entry of trucks and heavy vehicles.
These restrictions will no longer be in place because Grape 3 has been lifted. These restrictions are lifted when the AQI moves out of the severe category.
Air quality has improved compared to before
Air quality in the national capital has improved compared to earlier. Delhi's air quality was recorded in the "very poor" category on Thursday (January 22), with an AQI of 313. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate fog on Thursday and thunderstorms on Friday (January 23).
Rain and strong wind warning on January 23
The IMD has also issued a warning for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, which will help clear the air of pollutants. According to the weather department, the maximum temperature in the NCR on January 23rd is expected to be around 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 10 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorms are possible throughout the day.
According to CPCB, AQI between zero to 50 is considered 'good', between 51 to 100 'satisfactory', between 101 to 200 'moderate', between 201 to 300 'poor', between 301 to 400 'very poor' and between 401 to 500 'severe'.
Grape-4 restrictions removed earlier
Previously, GRAP-4 restrictions were lifted on January 20, 2026, following a slight improvement in Delhi-NCR's air quality. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) had decided to lift GRAP-4 restrictions. GRAP Stage-4 was implemented in Delhi-NCR on January 17.
