
News Topical, Digital Desk : Due to heavy rains in Punjab, the Ravi river is in spate. Buildings near Madhopur Headworks have suffered heavy damage. CRPF jawans and some civilians were stranded here since yesterday. The army rescued them by carrying out a rescue operation in adverse conditions.
The Indian Army said that in a swift and bold operation, Indian Army Aviation safely evacuated 22 CRPF personnel and three civilians stranded near Madhopur Headworks (Punjab) since yesterday. At 6 am today, despite challenging conditions, Army Aviation helicopters took off for rescue operations. All the stranded persons were evacuated safely.
Police checkpost removed
The police check post that was set up for checking at Jammu Kashmir border Madhopur (Pathankot) for many years was removed late at night. The water of the Ravi river had overflowed and started coming near the check post. Apart from this, the Jammu National Highway has also been closed.
National Highway-44 closed
Water filled the national highway in Sujanpur and after this the NDRF team reached the spot. Due to erosion in the Ravi river Madhopur (Pathankot), more water came into the UBDC canal. Due to this, National Highway 44 got flooded. At present, the movement of vehicles on the highway has been banned.
