News Topical, Digital Desk : A 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck Andhra Pradesh's Alluri Sitarama Raju district on Tuesday morning. The tremor was also felt in neighboring Visakhapatnam (Vizag) district. Officials said there were no reports of casualties or property damage due to the low intensity of the quake.

According to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), the earthquake struck at 4:19 PM and its epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers below the ground. APSDMA officials said the tremor was felt for a very short time and fortunately, there were no reports of casualties or property damage.

Earthquake hits Vijayapura in Karnataka

Meanwhile, a mild earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale struck Karnataka's Vijayapura district on Tuesday morning, according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center (KSNDMC). The quake struck at 7:49 am and its epicenter was located about 3.6 kilometers northwest of Bhootnal Tanda in Vijayapura taluka. Officials said the seismic event was minor and caused no damage. 

The KSNDMC said in a statement that the coordinates recorded were 16.91 degrees north latitude and 75.75 degrees east longitude, and the epicenter was five kilometers below the surface. "The KSNDMC network in Vijayapura district recorded an earthquake of magnitude 2.9, with its epicenter located 3.6 kilometers northwest of Bhootnal Tanda in Vijayapura taluka," the statement said.
