News Topical, Digital Desk : The Delhi High Court has banned victory processions by candidates declared victorious in the DUSU (Delhi University Students Union) elections. The court stated that no victory processions will be held on campus, in hostels, or in any other area of ​​the city. Elections for the Central Panel are scheduled for September 18th in DU. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Student Union of India (NSUI) are in a close contest. The Aam Aadmi Party's student wing, ASAP, did not field candidates for the Central Panel this year.

High Court issues 'warning'

A bench of Chief Justice DK Upadhyay and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela said the court was not interfering with the elections but could suspend the functioning of DUSU office bearers if the elections were not conducted in a satisfactory manner. "We are not interfering with the elections but can suspend the functioning of office bearers if the elections were not conducted in a satisfactory manner," the bench said.

The High Court gave these instructions to the Delhi Police

The bench directed the Delhi Police, DU authorities and the civil administration to take all possible and acceptable steps to prevent any untoward incident during the DUSU elections and ensure that there is no violation of rules during the elections.

In fact, it has been observed that after election results, candidates and their supporters hold large rallies or processions. These rallies involve numerous vehicles, fireworks, and sloganeering. Money has been a major issue in the Delhi Student Union elections.
