News Topical, Digital Desk : The five-day festival of lights, which runs from Dhanteras to Bhai Dooj, begins this year on October 18th. Today, we'll tell you where you can light lamps to reap the benefits of this festival. Let's find out more.

Dhanteras 

The five-day festival of lights begins with Dhanteras. This year, the festival will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18th. On Dhanteras, 13 lamps must be lit after sunset. Doing so bestows the blessings of Lord Kubera and alleviates financial problems. Also, on the evening of Dhanteras, a four-faced lamp, dedicated to Yama, must be lit in the south direction. This blesses the entire family with health and prosperity.

Choti Diwali 

The day of Chhoti Diwali is also known as Kali Chaudas. Hanuman is also worshipped on this day. Lighting 14 lamps on Chhoti Diwali, Sunday, October 19th, is considered especially significant. You can light these lamps in various places in the house, such as the temple, main entrance, kitchen, and near the Tulsi plant.

Diwali

This year, Diwali will be celebrated on Monday, October 20th. Worshiping Lakshmi and Ganesha holds special significance on this day. While homes and streets are often illuminated on Diwali , you should definitely light a lamp at the main entrance, facing north or east. Lighting a lamp near the Tulsi plant is also considered auspicious.

Govardhan Puja

This year, Govardhan Puja will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd. During Govardhan Puja, you can light a lamp at the navel of Giriraj Maharaj, which is considered very auspicious. You can also benefit by lighting a lamp in your courtyard on this day.

Bhai Dooj 

This year, Bhai Dooj will be celebrated on October 23rd. It is also known as Yam Dwitiya, as it is customary to worship Yamraj on this day. Therefore, you can light a four-sided lamp in the name of Yamraj outside your home on this day. This lamp is lit outside the doorstep of the house. It is believed that this helps prevent any obstacles in life and eliminates the fear of premature death. Lighting an oil lamp on the south side of the house on Bhai Dooj  (Bhai Dooj 2025) is also considered auspicious.
