News Topical, Digital Desk : In a major operation in Goa, the Narcotics Control Bureau ( NCB) has arrested Danish Chikana alias Merchant, a close associate of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and the kingpin of a drug network . According to officials, Danish had been absconding for a long time and was handling drug dealings linked to Dawood's network.
The NCB also arrested Danish and three other individuals and recovered 1.341 kg of mephedrone ( MD). Acting on information, the NCB Mumbai arrested a man in Pune on September 18th, who was found in possession of 502 grams of mephedrone.
Drugs recovered from Danish's house
In the immediate aftermath, 839 grams of drugs were recovered from Danish and his wife's home in Mumbai. Investigations revealed that Danish and his wife were running this drug syndicate.
Arrested from a resort in Goa
Danish and his wife traveled across several states to evade arrest. After extensive surveillance and investigation, the NCB team arrested them from a resort in Goa on October 25. According to the NCB, Danish has been arrested several times in drug cases before.
Several cases have already been registered
Danish has been charged with three counts under the NDPS Act by the NCB and the Rajasthan Police. The Mumbai Police also have seven criminal cases against him. The police had previously ordered him to stay outside the Mumbai city limits.
