News Topical, Digital Desk : After wreaking havoc in Sri Lanka, Cyclone Ditwa has approached India. However, meteorologists believe that the storm will weaken and turn into a deep depression before hitting the Indian coast. The storm will dissipate about 30 kilometers off the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. However, it is causing heavy rainfall in the country's southeastern states, affecting crops. Waterlogging is occurring in many areas, and people are facing difficulties.
Schools in Puducherry have been closed due to the possibility of heavy rain. Puducherry Home Minister A. Namassivayam said that government and government-aided schools will be closed on December 1 due to the heavy rain. Meanwhile, heavy rains in Tamil Nadu are causing significant inconvenience to residents.
Heavy rains lash several districts of Tamil Nadu
Cyclone Ditwa has caused heavy rainfall in several districts of Tamil Nadu. Nagapattinam district in particular has been experiencing continuous rainfall for the past three days. Many houses in Tsunami Nagar were already on the verge of collapse, and their roofs were removed two months ago for reconstruction. However, even after two months, the repair work has not been completed, leaving residents severely affected by the ongoing rain. Consequently, affected families have been shifted to relief camps.
