New Delhi.  TNPL 2024 Winner. R Ashwin-led Dindigul Dragons won their maiden Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title with a 6-wicket win against defending champions Lyca Kovai Kings in the final match of TNPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (August 4).

In fact, Dindigul Dragons won the toss in the final match and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Lyca Kovai Kings could score 129/7 in the stipulated 20 overs. After this, captain Ravichandran Ashwin scored 52 runs in 46 balls and led the Dragons to victory in the final with 10 balls remaining. Baba Indrajith (32 runs in 35 balls) and Sharath Kumar (27 not out in 15 balls) also made important contributions with the bat.

Earlier, while batting, Lyca Kovai Kings had a good start. Suresh Kumar scored 11 runs off 9 balls. Lyca Kovai Kings lost 4 wickets till the score of 51 runs, which also included the wicket of Sai Sudarshan. Sai scored only 14 runs off 14 balls. Ram Arvind scored the highest 27 runs and Atiq ur Rehman scored 25 runs, while captain Shahrukh Khan was out after scoring just 3 runs.

Let us tell you that TNPL, which is being organized by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) since the year 2016. The league was canceled in the year 2020 due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Apart from this, this league is organized every year and this time TNPL got a new champion in the form of Dindigul Dragons captained by Ashwin.


 

On the other hand, Gautham Tamarai Kannan, Manimaran Siddharth, Valiyappan Yudheeswaran and captain Shahrukh Khan got 1-1 wickets for Lyca Kovai Kings.
