News Topical, Digital Desk : Ayodhya News: The Congress has slammed the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh over the sale of liquor in Ayodhya and the figures of deaths in the Maha Kumbh, alleging that the BJP government has violated the sanctity of Lord Shri Ram's city Ayodhya and made it a liquor city.

Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai, while showing a video, said that on May 01, 2025, the working committee of Ayodhya Municipal Corporation had passed a proposal to ban the sale of liquor and meat on a 13-km route. Despite this, liquor shops are being operated near Sahabganj, Anguri Bagh, Vikasganj and Ayodhya Cantt bus station in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. He said that the government is earning money from liquor and has insulted faith by making Ayodhya a liquor-filled place. Ajay Rai called it a stigma put on the forehead of the people of Ayodhya by the government that talks about Hindutva.

Showing the second video, Ajay Rai questioned the government figures of deaths in the stampede at Maha Kumbh. He said that according to the government, 37 people died in the incident that took place on January 29, while according to a report by a leading news group, 82 people died there. He said that the government gave Rs 25 lakh each to 36 people and Rs 5 lakh each to 26 people, but these payments were made by police personnel instead of revenue officials, which is wrong.

The police gave money to people and made them give their thumb impressions

Rai questioned how the police went there, on whose orders did they go and how did the police give money to people and get their thumb impressions and signatures. This is a big question as to how the government sent the police there? He also said that officials reached the villages and got the families to sign false letters stating that their relatives had died due to sudden deterioration in health.

CM Yogi is lying to the public by wearing saffron clothes

Ajay Rai further said that the government has completely denied the 19 deaths that occurred in the Maha Kumbh stampede; there is no record of them, no compensation has been given to them and they have not been mentioned anywhere, as if they never existed in the eyes of the government. Apart from this, K.N. Vasudevacharya, younger brother of former BJP general secretary Govindacharya, was declared dead without any legal heir. He said that Vasudevacharya was cremated as an abandoned body at Harishchandra Ghat in Banaras. He also mentioned Anjani Rai, a sub-inspector from Ghazipur, whose cause of death was given as heart attack by the government, while he lost his life trying to save the crowd. Ajay Rai said that Yogi Adityanath is lying to the public by wearing saffron clothes and his government is only cheating the common people.
