News Topical, Digital Desk : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar suddenly reached Vanavar in Makhdumpur block of Jehanabad on Wednesday. The Chief Minister first inspected the preparations for the Patalganga Shravani Mela in Vanavar. He took stock of the cleanliness, security arrangements and facilities for the devotees. Along with this, the CM went a little distance to Mouniya Baba located on Vanavar hill.
Take care of the facilities of devotees- CM
The CM also had to visit the man-made cave of Vanavar, but due to the height and heat, he returned from near the temple of Mouniya Baba. The Chief Minister instructed the District Magistrate that there should be no shortage of facilities for the devotees. Take special care that they do not face any inconvenience in performing Jalabhishek.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister said that the Vanavar caves highlight the ancient cultural heritage of India. Its development is very important so that this area remains protected from historical and cultural point of view. Also, tourism should also be promoted here. Barabar (Vanavar) caves are located in Jehanabad district. These caves are counted among the oldest rock-cut caves of the Indian subcontinent.
They were built in the 3rd century BC during the reign of Maurya emperor Ashoka (273-232 BC) and his successor Dasharatha. These caves were built especially for the sages of the Ajivika sect, which was an influential religious sect at that time. There are a total of four main caves in Barabar Hill - Karnachaupar Cave, Lomas Rishi Cave, Sudama Cave and Vishwajyoti Cave - out of these Sudama and Lomas Rishi caves are especially noteworthy from the architectural point of view.
The most unique feature of these caves is their smooth and highly refined polished interiors. It presents an excellent example of Mauryan stone polishing technique. Due to this technique, the walls inside the caves shine like a mirror and the sound resonates, making it a suitable place for meditation.
Development work worth Rs 50 crore is underway
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced the overall development of Barabar caves and its surrounding area during the 'Pragati Yatra' in the year 2025. A development plan of Rs 50 crore was approved for this. This development plan includes construction of stairs, development of tourist facilities, and reconstruction and renovation of a mini museum.
During this time, JDU District President Dilip Kushwaha and local people put forth the problems and expectations of their area in front of the Chief Minister. This visit of CM Nitish Kumar is being considered an important step towards administrative vigilance. Here, local resident Rajesh Kumar said that since CM Nitish Kumar became the Chief Minister, this is the first time he has visited Baba's city Vanavar. We are very happy and hopeful with his arrival.
It is worth mentioning that last year on 12th August, 8 people died in a stampede near the temple of Baba Siddheshwarnath in this Vanavar fair and this year the district administration is completely alert regarding the same. DM Alankrita Pandey and SP Vineet Kumar themselves have inspected the Vanavar fair by staying awake the whole night and the sudden visit of CM Nitish Kumar in this year's fair is considered important.
