"Nahay-Khay" means bathing and eating. This day prepares the devotee mentally and physically for the next 36 hours of waterless fasting. On this day, devotees purify themselves by eating food with purity and performing various puja rituals.

The ritual of Nahay-Khay (Nahay Khay 2025 Rituals)

The fasting person should wake up before sunrise and bathe in a holy river or pond. If going to a holy ghat is difficult, bathe at home with Ganga water.
After bathing, thoroughly clean the entire house. From this day on, there should be no dirt in the house.
Wear clean clothes and take a vow to observe the fast in front of the Sun God.
On this day, a satvik meal of pumpkin (gourd) vegetable, gram dal, and raw rice is prepared.
