New Delhi: For the first time, the conference and general assembly of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) is going to be organized in India. It will be held between 25 and 30 November at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. This is the top organization of cooperatives at the global level, in whose 130-year history India will get the opportunity to host for the first time. As per the instructions of the United Nations, the International Cooperative Year-2025 will also be officially started during this time. Also, 10 thousand peepal trees will be planted to compensate for carbon emissions. The program will be chaired by Cooperative and Home Minister Amit Shah.

The theme of this programme proposed by IFFCO will be - 'Cooperatives: Gateway to Prosperity for All'. ICA Director General Jaron Douglas, Cooperative Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani and IFFCO Managing Director Dr. Uday Shankar Awasthi said in a joint press conference on Monday that our aim is to bring prosperity to everyone's doorstep by promoting entrepreneurship through the cooperative movement.

Indian villages will be the theme of the conference

Organizing the program will develop foreign cooperative trade in India. The Prime Minister of Bhutan, the President of the United Nations Economic Council, the President and members of ICA, prominent personalities associated with the Indian cooperative movement along with representatives from more than 100 countries will participate in the conference. Giving information about the objective of the program, the Cooperative Secretary said that after the formation of the Ministry of Cooperation, 54 new initiatives have been taken for the empowerment of the cooperative movement in the country.

These will prove to be milestones in the development of the cooperative sector. With the computerization of PACS and the formation of cooperative societies in new areas, India has started growing rapidly at the global level. Uday Shankar Awasthi, while mentioning the contribution of IFFCO in the cooperative sector, said that the theme of the global conference will be Indian villages. It will be used to showcase cooperative products as a market. The Indian cooperative movement has been inspired by the protection of the environment.

IFFCO's subsidiary will become carbon free

IFFDC, a subsidiary of IFFCO, has been a leader in earning carbon credits for the past few years. Taking this trend forward, this event will also be carbon free. IFFCO is committed to maximum participation of women co-operatives. A seat is reserved for women on the post of director in its board.
