News Topical,Digital Desk : Delhi High Court News: There will be no mercy on illegal constructions that are causing waterlogging and obstructing the cleaning of drains in the capital Delhi. Delhi High Court gave clear instructions to Delhi Development Authority to start demolishing illegal structures standing above Taimur Nagar drain in South-East Delhi from May 5. The court said bluntly that it does not matter to us who took the money and who sold it, illegal constructions will have to be removed.

The division bench of Justice Pratibha M. Singh and Justice Maneet PS Arora asked sharp questions to the officials during the hearing of the case. The court said how such big buildings were built without anyone noticing, who is responsible? An investigation must be done. The court was told that the work of cleaning the drain had started, but the cleaning is incomplete at many places.

On this, the court expressed strong displeasure and made it clear that the work of removing silt should be completed immediately. The court directed that the debris should not fall back into the drain and the pipeline of Delhi Jal Board should also be kept safe.

DDA's lawyer gave an important argument
DDA's lawyer Prabhsahay Kaur informed that about 100 illegal constructions have been identified in the joint inspection, on which action is required. She also said that demolition work will be done keeping in mind the water board pipelines passing over the drain.

Responsibilities will be investigated.
The court has ordered a joint inspection with DDA, MCD, special task force and local residents on May 18. After the inspection, the report will have to be presented before the court. During the hearing, the court reiterated that if any resident has to file a petition against the demolition, it will be heard only under the orders of the Chief Justice.

This action is part of the court's suo motu campaign to deal with waterlogging, poor drainage and traffic jams during monsoon in Delhi. Delhi citizens, especially lawyers, had also raised the serious problem of rainwaterlogging in roads, homes and offices before the court, which the court has taken very seriously.

'The guilty will not be spared'
The High Court clearly stated in its instructions that not only will the illegal constructions be removed, but it will also be investigated as to which officials' negligence led to this situation. The court said that action will also be taken against the mafia and the corrupt.
