News Topical, Digital Desk : With the commencement of the 77th Republic Day, all eyes were on Delhi's path of duty. From the President's entry to the military's valor display and impressive tableaux, the Republic Day parade was a grand affair. Before the ceremony began, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the martyrs at the National War Memorial.

Chief Guest

European Council President Antonio Costa and European Union President Ursula von der Leyen were invited as chief guests at this year's Republic Day parade. Both global figures arrived with President Draupadi Murmu.

Republic Day theme

This year's Republic Day parade theme was "Vande Mataram." This theme was chosen to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the national anthem. The Line of Duty was decorated with this theme, and many tableaux also featured it.

  • Approximately 6,000 soldiers and 18 marching contingents participated in the parade, accompanied by 13 bands.
  • Bhairav ​​Light Commando Battalion participated in the parade for the first time.
  • Shaktiban Regiment, a new artillery regiment equipped with drones and modern systems, also participated in the parade.
  • A grand display of horsemen from 61 Cavalry was witnessed along with the Army.
  • Rajput, Assam, Jack Lee and Artillery Contingent also displayed bravery in the parade.

Weapons and missiles enhanced the beauty

The 77th Republic Day parade showcased many of India's modern and indigenous weapons and missiles. This list included the BrahMos missile system, the Akash missile system, the Suryastra rocket launcher system, the Dhanush howitzer, the ATAGS, and the MRSAM, along with the Arjun battle tank and the Army's heavily armored vehicles.

Air Force showed bravery

Following the Republic Day parade, military fighter jets displayed their prowess in the air. This year, 29 fighter jets, including the Rafale, Sukhoi (Su-30), MiG-29, and Jaguar, flew simultaneously over Delhi. The Air Force also performed a formation themed "Operation Sindoor." More than 30,000 people witnessed the moment.

Highlights of the Republic Day parade

President Draupadi Murmu awarded the Ashoka Chakra to Group Captain and Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla.

Thirty tableaux were displayed in the Republic Day parade, representing 17 states and union territories, and 13 representing various ministries.

An NCC contingent of 148 girl cadets also marched in the line of duty. The march was led by Senior Under Officer Mansi Vishwakarma, Commander of the Uttarakhand Directorate Senior Wing Girls.

The European Union contingent also participated in the parade of duty.

For the first time, a female officer commanded an all-male CRPF battalion. Assistant Commandant Simran Bala, 26, led the CRPF contingent in the parade.
